GUANZHI

Song-inspired forms and softly coloured glazes, made for contemporary tea and coffee rituals.

THE STUDIO

Founded in Dehua, Fujian, in 2020, GUANZHI draws on the restrained beauty of Song-dynasty Ru ware. Its name comes from a Chinese expression of admiration, suggesting a beauty that invites the viewer to pause. The brand works within Dehua’s established ceramic-making community to bring this historical sensibility into contemporary daily use.

Soft celadon blue and misty purple glazes accompany forms inspired by flowers, lobed vessels and other classical shapes. The collection spans cups, gaiwans and tea accessories, balancing visual presence with practical use. Rather than presenting these pieces as historical antiques, GUANZHI interprets the quiet colours and gentle proportions of Song ceramics for modern tea tables, desks and homes.

THE PRACTICE

GUANZHI focuses on Ru-style glazed ceramics. Fine crackle in the glaze forms part of their surface character, and its appearance can change with use. Forming, trimming, glazing and firing are brought together to develop soft contours and carefully controlled colours, including celadon blue and muted purple.

CARE

Hand wash with a soft cloth and rinse promptly after use. Avoid the dishwasher, microwave, abrasive brushes and prolonged soaking in tea. Fine glaze crackle is part of the Ru-style finish; follow each product’s care guidance and protect the ceramics from impacts.
