Hand-Painted Blue Parrot Porcelain Tea Set — Jingdezhen

A delicate study of birds, foliage and porcelain craftsmanship, hand-painted in Jingdezhen.

Created by Zhuyuzhao (竹玉窑), a Jingdezhen porcelain studio rooted in three generations of ceramic making, this three-piece tea set brings together traditional blue-and-white painting, restrained touches of green and distinctive raised dot detailing.

At the center of the composition is a vivid blue parrot motif, individually rendered by hand with fine cobalt brushwork. Layered strokes articulate the feathers and posture of the bird, while slender green branches curve around it with a lighter, more spontaneous rhythm. The contrast between saturated blue, translucent green and the luminous white porcelain gives the work an unusually fresh character.

One of the most distinctive details is its raised white dot decoration. Arranged in cascading lines around the bird and foliage, these tiny dimensional marks catch the light differently from the smooth glazed surface and give the porcelain a subtle tactile quality reminiscent of fine beadwork.

The presentation plate is finished with a softly scalloped rim and carries the composition on a larger scale, including hand-painted calligraphy alongside the bird motif. The gaiwan and tasting cup repeat elements of the same visual language, allowing the three individual objects to read as a complete composition when displayed together.

Because the decoration is executed by hand, variations in brushwork, line, color, raised detailing and firing are expected. These subtle differences are part of the character of each individually made set.

Care

Hand wash gently using a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, impact and sudden temperature changes. Hand washing is recommended to preserve the painted and raised decorative details.

Variations in brushwork, glaze, color, form and decorative detailing are natural characteristics of individually handcrafted porcelain.
