A wide, flat surface resting on a raised foot — this is a form that has appeared in Chinese ritual objects for thousands of years, from bronze vessels to porcelain offerings. In natural lacquer, it takes on a warmth and depth that harder materials cannot match.

Handcrafted by YQ Lacquer in Guangzhou, each layer of lacquer is applied and cured by hand over a body of linen fabric and paper — a slow process that builds a surface of genuine depth. At 280 × 280mm, the large format gives it the presence of a centrepiece: use it as a display tray, a fruit plate, a ceremonial object, or simply let it occupy a shelf on its own terms.
