YQ LACQUER is a contemporary craft and art brand
founded in 2017 by Chinese lacquer artist Hong
Yidong in Guangzhou . Using China’s ancient
lacquer tradition—spanning nearly 8,000 years — as
its creative medium, the brand advances this heritage
through sustainable and innovative approaches ,
bringing it into the fields of contemporary design and
art.
Defined by minimalist aesthetics and refined
craftsmanship, YQ Lacquer’s works are represented
in museum art shops and high-end design boutiques
across China . Its two main collections include the
Paper Body Lacquerware Series and the Collector’s
Lacquer Ceramic Series , both sought after by
collectors . Beyond its collections , YQ Lacquer
collaborates with leading real estate and design
institutions to develop bespoke lacquer artworks and

Paper Body Lacquerware
This collection revives the ancient art of paper body lacquerware,
once rare due to the high cost of traditional papermaking. Combining
traditional techniques with contemporary methods, multiple layers of
natural lacquer are applied on kraft paper, reinforced with fabric and
polished to create a hardened, durable surface.
Shaped using origami-inspired design, these works reinterpret
Eastern aesthetics with a modern sensibility. Plates are ideal for
serving fruit or pastries, while vases accommodate both fresh and
dried floral arrangements.
